2019 IPSIG Annual Workshop

The 2019 IPSIG workshop will be hosted by Adelaide Law School, University of Adelaide on Friday 31 May 2018. The aim of the workshop is to provide an informal setting for a relatively small group of academics, research higher degree students, government lawyers, members of civil society, and other practitioners of international law working on peace and security matters to discuss work in progress.

IPSIG invites ANZSIL members, as well as staff of DFAT, MFAT, the Attorney-General's Departments, and other relevant Australian and New Zealand government departments, to submit proposals for papers on any topic connected to international peace and security, including (but not limited to):

• the law on the use of force (jus ad bellum)
• collective security under the UN Charter
• the law of armed conflict (jus in bello)
• arms control and disarmament law
• the law of peacekeeping
• security-related aspects of international human rights law
• critical approaches to peace and security issues
• international and transnational criminal law; and
• the teaching of peace and security issues in a legal context

If you are interested in presenting at the workshop, please submit an abstract (up to 500 words) and a biographical note (up to 150 words) via the online form by Friday 15 February. Abstracts will be subject to blind review and applicants will be informed of the outcome of their proposal by early March 2019. Successful applicants will be asked to submit a three-page summary of their paper in advance of the workshop.
