The Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law (ANZSIL) and the International Comparative Law Cluster (ICLC) at La Trobe Law School warmly invite you to a series of online seminars exploring careers in international law.
Each seminar features two international lawyers from Australia and/or Aotearoa New Zealand who will share their experiences and discuss the diverse pathways from studying to working in international law. The seminars include opportunities for audience Q&A and will also be recorded and made available via the ANZSIL website as a resource for international law teachers, students and recent graduates.

Georgia Hinds is a Legal Adviser with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), working on the legal and humanitarian implications of autonomous weapons, AI, drones and other new technologies of warfare. She has worked in the ICRC in various positions since 2017, including as Legal Adviser to Operations in Lebanon, the Philippines and the Pacific. Prior to joining the ICRC, Georgia worked in the Office of International Law, Australian Attorney-General's Department, advising the Australian Government on public international law including international humanitarian and human rights law, and international criminal law. She practiced as a solicitor in commercial law in Brisbane, Sydney and Singapore, and has also served as a Reservist Officer with the Australian Army. Georgia holds a Master of Laws in International Law (Distinction) from the Australian National University, a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts from Griffith University and is admitted as solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
Catherine Drummond is a barrister at 3 Verulam Buildings (3VB) in London, specialising in public international law and international arbitration. She is regularly instructed in cases before the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights, the International Criminal Court, arbitration tribunals (inter-State, investor-State and commercial) and UN bodies, as well as UK courts on matters intersecting with international law. Her recent cases include acting for Belize in its territorial and maritime disputes against Guatemala and Honduras (ICJ); for the UK against the EU’s challenge to marine conservation measures (inter-State arbitration); for Antigua and Barbuda in the Climate Change Advisory Opinion proceedings (ICJ); in an inter-State case involving ethnic discrimination and fair trial rights (ECtHR); for State interveners in four proceedings concerning Palestine (ICJ); for an NGO challenging weapons exports decisions (UK); and for investors challenging the assertion of State immunity to prevent the enforcement of an ICSID award (UK). Previously, Catherine practised at Freshfields in Paris. She has taught international dispute settlement in Brisbane, Paris and Cambridge, and presently lectures in the Master of International Dispute Settlement at the University of Geneva. Catherine holds a BA/LLB (Hons) (UQ) and an LLM (Class I) (University of Cambridge).
