The Australian and New Zealand Society of International Law (ANZSIL) and the International Comparative Law Cluster (ICLC) at La Trobe Law School warmly invite you to a series of online seminars exploring careers in international law.
Each seminar features two international lawyers from Australia and/or Aotearoa New Zealand who will share their experiences and discuss the diverse pathways from studying to working in international law. The seminars include opportunities for audience Q&A and will also be recorded and made available via the ANZSIL website as a resource for international law teachers, students and recent graduates.

Phil Lynch is the Executive Director of the International Service for Human Rights, which supports human rights defenders in their work for freedom, equality, justice and accountability, and strengthens laws and mechanisms for their protection. Before joining ISHR in 2013, Phil founded and led the award-winning Human Rights Law Centre (2006-2012) and Homeless Law (2001-2005) in Australia. He is a member of the Global Board of the International Gender Champions and the Swiss Committee of World Bicycle Relief, and a former member of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency Advisory Board and the Australian Government Human Rights Grants Scheme Expert Panel. He has been conferred with numerous human rights and leadership awards. Phil commenced his legal career as a lawyer with Allens and holds an LLB (Hons) and an MPPM from the University of Melbourne.
Rebecca McMenamin has just completed a year-long Judicial Fellowship at the International Court of Justice, working with Australian Judge Charlesworth. Prior to that, she worked in international law academia in Europe, completing her Masters of Law at the University of Cambridge, working on her PhD at the University of Vienna, and lecturing in Vienna. She practiced human rights and constitutional law in New Zealand and clerked at the Supreme Court Te Koti te Mana Nui after graduating with a LLB(Hons)/BA from Victoria University of Wellington. She is returning to New Zealand to work as a barrister, and has been consulting on a potential international law claim by a Pacific Island and on international law aspects of climate rights litigation in New Zealand.
